Simon Brett talks about crime and comedy
Simon Brett has published over 80 books, including the crime series featuring Charles Paris, Mrs Pargeter, Fethering and Blotto & Twinks. His stand-alone thriller, A Shock to the System, was made into a feature film starring Michael Caine. Simon's work for radio includes Dear Diary, Foul Play, No Commitments, Smelling of Roses and After Henry, which was also successful on television. He is a former Chair of the Society of Authors. www.simonbrett.com

Julia Franklin on talking books
Julia Franklin has a real passion for talking books and has been reading them for the last fifteen years. She has combined this with a busy career in radio and television both as a presenter (including 10 years on ITV's Gardener's Diary) and also as a voice-over with thousands of commercials to her credit. She now runs her own audio publishing company, Books Are Loud and the latest title, Stand-Up Stanley, has just been released. www.booksareloud.co.uk

The cost of the day is £20 members and £25 guests (including lunch and VAT). The booking deadline is Friday 17 February.
