UK members may have received a communication from the Irish PLR Office with a deadline of 17th September to decide how they would like to be paid Irish PLR this year.
For the first round of payments authors were given the choice of being paid via a collecting society such as ALCS (which charges 8% commission) or by cheque in Euros. Some members who opted to be paid by cheque were taken aback at the size of the bank charges levied on the transaction. This year there is a third option: credit transfer direct from the Irish PLR Office into your UK sterling bank account. Our understanding is that the sort of fee likely to be charged on the credit transfer of a modest sum will probably be in the region of £10 but practices vary and it is something you will want to check with your bank.
