The Society of Authors administers prizes for published translations into English from the Arabic, Dutch, French, German, Greek (modern), Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish. The prizes are generously supported by Arts Council England.The annual deadline for entry is 31 January, and we are now accepting entries for the 2012 Prizes (for books published in 2011).

The 2011 Translation Prize-Giving and Readings Event
The Society of Authors’ Translation Prize-Giving and Readings Event is to be held at Kings Place, London on 06 February 2012 (7-7:45pm). The prizes will be presented by Sir Peter Stothard of the TLS to the winning translators at the special readings event, held in conjunction with the annual Sebald Lecture. Find out more...
The 2010 Translation Prizes
Seven translators received prizes totalling £15,000 at the Society of Authors’ Translation Prizes and readings event, held at Kings Place, London at the end of January 2011. The prizes were presented by Sir Peter Stothard of the TLS to the winning translators at the special readings event, held in conjunction with the Sebald Lecture, given by Ali Smith.
